CONVERSION TO COLOR LIGHTS AT ARBOR

Sadly, the semaphore signalling has recently gone (by April 2007), with these pictures showing the replacement color light signalling being installed in March 2006. 2 18E engines can be seen in the second shot, which also shows the cosmos flower in bloom, a feature of this region.

Close now to the end of semaphore signalling here. No trains in sight, but the new CTC gantry and one of the westbound (Up) starters are silhouetted by the rising sun at Arbor, 05h30, 6th January 2007.

The down home signal is pulled off for an eastbound train with the new CTC colour lights already in place, but not yet operational. Note the bi-directional color light signals.

Four class 10E's head up an eastbound block of 80 x type CFR wagons. The down home signal is visible above the second loco, new CTC colour lights installed but not operational.

Close-up of the CTC colour light for eastbound trains on the Up main. The dwarf semaphores are still in place in the background, but the wires have already been removed. Earthworks are from the installation of underground CTC cables.

Eastbound 10E's (same train as in Pic 2) pass the Up starter signals. The new colour lights are just visible behind the semaphores. Note the rust on the rails of the Up main, all trains are being looped through the platform road at present, so the main has not seen a train in a few months.
