BULAWAYO

Bulawayo is the second city of Zimbabwe, but has always been the main railway center and for some years, the last place to see Garratt locomotives in revenue service. In the 50s and 60s, most Zimbabwe main lines were converted to color lights and centralised traffic control. This is the main signal box at Bulawayo, an impressive building that seemed to operational in this March 2011 visit, although the signals didn't seem to be working.
