GEORGE RAILWAY MUSEUM

There is also a large railway museum at George. with a number of signalling exhibits. Some of them are on a page where the equipment originated from, but this page sets out a few exhibits not linked to a specific place. This section of a frame might be from the training school for signalmen at Esselen Park, near Johannesburg. Picture by Dylan Knott.

Another frame section, definitely from the training school. The "station" name is Appleer which is a shortening of Apprecentice Learning in Afrikaas. Picture by Dylan Knott.

These four pictures show an exhibit of small scale models of signals and other signalling equipment, illustrating all the types of signals that could be seen in South Africa. I couldn't see any annotation, but I imagine they could have been used for training drivers or signalmen.

These are two buildings used for offices at the museum (the second one is used to issue tickets at the entrance of the museum), both in a design that looks like a signal box. However, I am not aware of them modelled on any particular signalbox.
